Page Optimisation

By: Webs Hosters

The first thing you need to do is to choose your keywords and design a particular page for each set of keywords. It's a good idea to arrange your keywords into specific groups after you have finished your keywords research. The group must look as

Keyword 1 apple

Good Keyword 1

Time Keyword 1

If you optimize several pages for similar keywords it will be a good idea to both optimize that page and its contents at the same time, saving time and effort. Having decided which page you want to optimize for each keyword, you have to include that keyword in different areas of the page. Very often the importance of the keyword placement on a page is greatly overstated. It is mostly important in terms of representing your page topic to the search engines in the best possible way. These areas are.

Url

If it is possible include your main keyword in the Url of the page although you must be aware that it's is not applicable in dynamic websites. The output should be similar to yourdomain.com/keyword1 or yourdomain/keyword2

One important thing is to use hyphens instead of underscores because the last are not treated as a space.

Page Title

The page title should include your top keyword and should be no longer than 10 words. It must make sense and is enticing to the readers to click on to visit your website. Keep away from using long keywords which will bring no use and even can be harmful to your site.

In the end you must have something similar to this

<title>Keyword1</title>

Meta Description And Keywords

The meta description tags are in fact your descriptions of your company or the product or service you sell. Their length shouldn't exceed 25 words and should contain some of the other keywords from the keyword group you have combined for this page. No need to mention but will do that the tags must be readable and descriptive.

Search engines rarely use meta keyword tags but it will do no harm to use them. They must contain a list of your main keywords for a particular page as well as more from your keyword group. The keywords should be separated by a comma and a space after the comma and all be in lower case letters.

Headings

It is a good idea to use headings to underline the important sections in your page. Use your main keyword with <h1> heading and <h2> and <h3> for the other secondary sections of your page. A CSS stylesheet can help you to keep all of your headings uniform with the rest of your page.

Paragraph Text

The paragraph text should contain your keywords and be sensible and readable. Do not stress on the keyword density percentage at the expense of the content. It is advisable to stress on the keywords using Bold or Italic text but once or twice is enough.

Alt Tags

Every image on the page should have an alt tag description which include the keyword and link to a relevant page.

Contextual Links

Interconnect the keywords on your pages and use every opportunity to link to other pages in your site.

Link Structure

Prefer using text links instead of graphic ones for navigating throughout your site. Use keyword links to link from every page to the main pages of your site.

Page Sizes

The smaller, the better. Try to make the size of your pages as small as possible, no more than 800 words and no more than 100 k.

HTML Validation

Prove your pages to be valid HTML using the W3C HTML tool because invalid HTML pages can negatively influence on your search engines rankings.
